The presentation, entitled “EasyTop™ by Vectis™: A New Rail Travel Experience”, was delivered by Dr. Igor Telychko — founder of Vectis, Director of MDC LLC, specialist in passive safety systems for rail transport and inventor named in Ukrainian Patent UA 123013 C2.

The official conference programme listed Dr. Igor Telychko among the speakers of the session “Rolling Stock — Renewal Vectors”, focused on the development, repair, modernisation and technical regulation of railway rolling stock.

English-language overview of the EasyTop presentation at Rail Expo 2026
Key elements of the EasyTop™ presentation: passenger value, evidence base, engineering programme, roadmap and route-to-market model.

From a new spatial architecture to an interior product

The central theme of the presentation was the new EasyTop™ passenger-space architecture. The concept introduces two functional passenger levels within the existing railway vehicle gauge. The upper level is conceived not merely as a conventional upper berth, but as a separate passenger environment suitable for sitting, resting and sleeping.

This arrangement makes it possible to combine daytime, night-time and mixed-use scenarios in the same vehicle, provide passengers with personal space, improve privacy and expand the operator’s ability to create differentiated service products.

EasyTop™ is an architecture of passenger space, not merely a new compartment.

The presentation showed how one vehicle platform could support higher-comfort travel, family compartments, premium daytime routes, overnight services and flexible service formats tailored to demand.

What has already been demonstrated

A separate part of the presentation focused on the current EasyTop™ evidence base. The project has a full-scale mock-up used to study entry, movement, upper-level access, seating, rest, luggage access and passenger interaction.

Engineering models of airflow and temperature fields have also been developed. These materials provide a basis for further adaptation of ventilation, heating and air-conditioning systems, development of a functional demonstrator and preparation of a conformity-assessment programme.

Current status: preliminary feasibility and key user scenarios have been demonstrated through exploratory mock-up studies and engineering models. The product still requires comprehensive engineering validation and independent conformity assessment.

The next engineering tasks

An applied research and development programme has been defined to move EasyTop™ towards serial implementation. Its main areas include:

  • thermal insulation and energy efficiency;
  • noise and vibration protection;
  • stairs, seating and sleeping structures;
  • microclimate management across both passenger levels;
  • lightweight structural solutions;
  • electrical and control systems;
  • fire safety;
  • conformity assessment and durability testing.

The objective is to create a validated EasyTop™ railway interior kit — a complete solution that can be adapted to a specific vehicle and integrated into projects delivered by different rolling-stock manufacturers and refurbishment companies.

Roadmap and route to market

The roadmap presented at the conference includes engineering adaptation, development of a functional demonstrator, comprehensive testing, preparation for conformity assessment, potential launch of serial implementation and further scaling across vehicle types and markets.

EasyTop™ may be supplied as a complete interior kit, a set of critical modules or technology for licensed production. This approach is intended to enable one validated product to be used by several new-vehicle manufacturers and companies modernising existing rolling stock.

Vectis as the EasyTop™ development platform

Vectis was presented as the platform through which further engineering development, investor engagement, cooperation with technology partners and rolling-stock manufacturers, conformity-assessment activities and international industrial partnerships are planned to be coordinated.

The project envisages two principal stages of capital and competence engagement: development and validation, followed by industrialisation and scaling.

Professional dialogue with the railway industry

Following the presentation, EasyTop™ was discussed with conference participants interested in its technical development, industrial cooperation and possible implementation models. Participation in Rail Expo marked a move from internal concept development towards an open dialogue with the railway industry.
